Shaping the Future of Digital Identity in Italy: Intesa and Lissi announce strategic partnership for the EUDI Wallet Ecosystem

Turin / Frankfurt, April 13th, 2026 –  Intesa, a Kyndryl Company, a leading Italian provider of digital trust services, and Lissi GmbH, a pioneer in EUDI Wallet infrastructure, today announced their strategic, long-term partnership. The aim of the collaboration is to enable private sector businesses with seamless and rapid access to the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet ecosystem, significantly reducing time-to-market and regulatory complexity.

Accelerating market entry: time-to-market as a decisive factor

With the adoption of the eIDAS 2.0 Regulation, regulated sectors – particularly banking, insurance, and telecommunications – face the challenge of having to accept EUDI Wallets for their identity processes by the end of 2027. This includes critical functions such as know your customer (KYC), strong customer authentication (SCA), and the integration of qualified electronic signatures (QES).

The technical complexity is immense, driven by constantly evolving standards and the need to interface with emerging national implementations of the EUDI Wallet across EU member states. By combining the complementary strengths of both companies, the partnership delivers a significant speed advantage for businesses entering the EUDI Wallet ecosystem:

  • Ready for immediate use: instead of spending months on costly in-house development, customers in the finance and insurance sectors gain immediate access to a production-ready solution that handles all complex protocols and EUDI standards.
  • Seamless Italian integration: the partnership specifically addresses the Italian landscape, ensuring compatibility with the Italian implementation of the EUDI Wallet and facilitating integration with key national infrastructures (e.g. digital payments and public service platforms), allowing for streamlined digital payments and identity verification.
  • Comprehensive compliance (KYC, SCA, QES): drawing on combined regulatory knowledge, the partnership delivers end-to-end compliance coverage — including automated KYC onboarding, SCA-compliant authentication, and the issuance and verification of QES, all within the EUDI framework.
  • Reduced integration burden: businesses benefit from a single, fully managed integration point that abstracts the technical complexity of the wallet infrastructure, allowing them to focus on their core digital transformation.
  • Future-proofing: continuous alignment with the EU architecture and reference framework (ARF), backed by active participation in the shaping of European standards, eliminates the risk of misguided investments and ensures long-term regulatory compliance.

A long-term vision for the Italian market

This partnership combines Intesa’s deep roots in the Italian market for trust services with the technical excellence of Lissi GmbH, a Commerzbank spin-off that plays an active role in shaping European standards.

“For our customers in the Italian private sector, speed is now a strategic competitive advantage. Through our partnership with Lissi, we are not only offering a solution that complies with eIDAS 2.0, but we are also drastically reducing the time it takes to implement high-trust use cases like SCA and QES through EUDI Wallet-enabled identity flows” says Marco Broggio, Chief Solutions Officer of Intesa.

“We are delighted to have gained a strong partner in Intesa for one of Europe’s most important digital markets,” adds Adrian Doerk, CCO of Lissi GmbH. “Together, we are mitigating the risks associated with eIDAS implementation for Italian businesses and creating a scalable bridge of trust for citizens.”
