The POTENTIAL Consortium selected by the European Commission to continue its journey towards the European Digital Identity

On 14/12/2022, the European Commission announced the results of the Large Scale Program for the Digital Identity Wallet. The POTENTIAL Consortium is proud to announce that its proposal, submitted in August 2022, was selected by the Commission.

148 participants from 19 member states and Ukraine came together in the POTENTIAL Consortium to lead prototypes of the upcoming EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) in 6 use cases (“Electronic Government services”, “Account opening”, “SIM registration”, “Mobile Driving License”, “Remote Qualified Electronic Signature”, and “Electronic Prescription”). The POTENTIAL Consortium renews its commitment to implementing these pilot projects with ambition and determination. Intesa (Havant Group) is pleased to have joined forces with the European project carried forward by POTENTIAL.

As Intesa, we are proud to have been selected to play this important role at both national and international level within the most representative consortium at European level, and we are pleased that the effort put into the preparation was assessed favourably by the European Commission. It is now important to work productively with the other partners to demonstrate that the Wallet can be a useful and effective tool, and that it can become part of the daily life of all European citizens, simplifying the lives of citizens and businesses.

All the participants in the POTENTIAL Consortium are pleased to have earned the trust of the European Commission to implement these innovative use cases and support the international tests for the European Digital Identity. The POTENTIAL Consortium is now ready to begin its collaboration with DG CONNECT, which will conclude with the signing of the Grant Agreement (GA) and the launch of the project, estimated for early May 2023.
