Intesa obtains the Conformity Assessment Report on eIDAS 2.0 certification for identity proofing and qualified remote signature
Turin, May 20, 2026 – Intesa, a company that has been operating in digital transformation for over 35 years and is among the main providers of qualified trust services in Italy and Europe, announces that it has obtained the Conformity Assessment Report (CAR), issued by a nationally accredited conformity assessment body (CAB), on identity proofing processes and remote qualified electronic signature and seal services, pursuant to Regulation (EU) 910/2014 as amended by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 (eIDAS 2.0). The CAR attests to Intesa’s full compliance with the new requirements introduced by eIDAS 2.0.
The CAR was issued without any non-compliance findings at the end of a assessment process divided into two phases — a documentary one (Stage 1) and an on-site and remote audit one (Stage 2) — and attests to Intesa’s full compliance with the requirements of Art. 24 of the eIDAS Regulation and applicable ETSI technical standards, including ETSI TS 119 461 v 2.1.1 for identity proofing processes and ETSI TS 119 431-1 for remote signature and seal services on a qualified device. The result fits into a context of strong regulatory evolution, which requires European trust service providers to punctually adapt to the new security and reliability standards provided for by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183 .
The new European regulatory framework, introduced by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183, significantly strengthens the requirements for qualified trust service providers, with particular attention to identity verification processes and the issuance of qualified certificates and qualified attributes. In this scenario, the robustness of identity proofing processes becomes a central factor in ensuring high standards of security, reliability and protection of digital identity for citizens, businesses and public administrations.
For Intesa, this path is part of a broader strategy of managing compliance and innovation in digital trust services, with the aim of offering the market solutions that are fully aligned with European regulatory evolution. Adaptation to the new requirements represents not only a regulatory obligation, but also an opportunity to strengthen the quality of internal processes and customer trust, in a context where the authenticity and integrity of digital interactions assume an increasingly strategic role.
“Obtaining the Conformity Assessment Report on the new eIDAS 2.0 requirements confirms the solidity of the work done and our ability to respond with timeliness and rigor to European regulatory developments”, declares Simone Baldini, Head of Business Compliance of Intesa. “For Intesa, compliance, security and reliability are not simply regulatory requirements, but pillars of our way of operating and of the value we want to guarantee to customers at every stage of the digital journey. ”
By obtaining the Conformity Assessment Report, Intesa positions itself as a reference point in the Italian market for qualified trust services, confirming its commitment to supporting the digital transformation of businesses and organizations through certified, reliable solutions fully compliant with the highest European standards of digital trust.
