FAQ – Frequently asked questions

How can a business get an IntesaID

Intesa ID for businesses features one Level II digital ID, which can be renewed every twelve (12) months.
The required identity-recognition protocol is the same as for individuals.
A chamber of commerce dossier certificate is required.

What documents do I need to create a personal SPID?

The following documents are required to obtain a SPID:
– A valid Italian government-issued ID (national ID card, passport)
– A valid Italian national-health-service card (or the ID badge or certificate with which the Internal Revenue Agency issued you a tax ID number). For more details.
– A valid email address and home or mobile phone number

The email address and the mobile number do not have to be in the name of the person applying for the SPID; however, for reasons including security checks, it must be a personal address / phone number.

I am an Italian citizen living abroad: can I activate a SPID digital ID?

Yes, if you have a valid Italian ID (national ID card, passport) and national-health-service card (or the ID badge or certificate with which the Internal Revenue Agency issued you a tax ID number). For more information.

I am not an Italian citizen, but I live in Italy - can I get a SPID?

Yes, if you have an Italian ID (national ID card, passport) and national-health-service card (or the ID badge or certificate with which the Internal Revenue Agency issued you a tax ID number). For more information.
You may request an Italian ID card and a tax-ID card if you have a stay permit (permesso di soggiorno) and you reside in Italy.

May I, as a business, utilise SPID digital IDs for individuals?

No, if you are a business, you must purchase a business (legal-entity) SPID because the identity is linked to the business’ VAT number, rather to the private citizen.

On the other hand, if you are a freelance professional, you have the option of either an individual SPID or a business SPID. Please note that individual SPIDs are linked to tax ID numbers, and business SPIDs are linked to VAT numbers.
